John William Reker, 82, of Paducah, Kentucky formerly of Carmi, Illinois died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at his residence. He was a retired school teacher from the Carmi District 5 and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Farm Bureau. John served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War.
He is survived by four daughters, Cynthia Marie Auler of Paducah, Kentucky, Nancy Lee Harton of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Catherine Reker of Paducah, Kentucky, Jeanne C. Bundy of Paducah, Kentucky; son, MAJ(P)William “Bill” Allen Reker of Chester, Virginia; 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services for John William Reker will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Paducah, KY with burial with Military Honors will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Cook Funeral Home in Carmi, IL and Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 2:00 until service time at Mt. Zion Church in Paducah, KY
Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The Cook Chapel in Carmi is in charge of all the local arrangements.
