96-year-old Frieda Katherine Cutchin of Carmi died Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Deaconess Main Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was a 1938 graduate of Carmi High School. Frieda married Leroy Cutchin on May 28, 1944 and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2002. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Reinwalds, Martins, White County Abstract Company, Illinois Public Aid Office and Bob Nolen Farm Management. She loved music and sang and played the piano and accordion. Along with her mother, Inez Deppenmeier, she organized the Gingham Girls Club, and she was a member of the Sew and Sew Club for over 50 years.
Frieda is survived by 2 sons Stanton L. (Judith) Cutchin and Steve Cutchin both of Carmi; a sister Wanda Niekamp of Carmi; grandchildren Crystal Dawn (Bryce) Tracy of Carmi, Marnie Lynn (Edward) Blade of Greenup, IL and Amber Nicole (Neill) Wheeler of Morehead City, North Carolina; great-grandchildren Dylan Tracy, Ashley Gregor, Taylor Gregor, Mitchell Blade, Colton Wheeler and Emma Wheeler. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation and funeral are Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. and the funeral is at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Big Prairie Cemetery.
