Earl J. Jr. Frankland, Albion

Frankland, EarlEarl J. “Jr.” Frankland, 91, of Albion, died July 28, at Burgin Manor in Olney.  Jr. served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from September of 1943 to February of 1946. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 1985 as a Major.

He owned and operated Wides Service Station from 1946 to 1960, and was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.  He also served on the board for the Career Development Center in Fairfield, the Edwards County Public Building Commission, and the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission.  He was a charter member of both the Albion Moose Lodge No. 621 and the Ellery Water Corporation, where he served as an officer. He was a member of the Edwards County Sportsmen’s Club, Longspurs Chapter of the Wild Turkey Federation, Edwards County Farm Bureau, and American Legion Post 590. He was an honorary member of the Lakota Sioux Nation. He also was a member of the Albion First Christian Church, serving as a Deacon.

Jr. is survived by his wife of 72 years, Glenna; three sons and their wives: Gene (Diane) of Muncie, Indiana, Phil (Marilyn) of Nashua, New Hampshire, and Les (Faye) of Albion, Illinois; six grandchildren: Erich, Aaron, Heather, Lydia, Lacey, and Carolyn; and four great-grandchildren: Amber, Coner, Kyle, and Braden.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion. Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 5 at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside.

Memorials may be made to the Albion First Christian Church or the Career Development Center of Fairfield, Illinois.
