Irby Lee Lapington of Henderson, KY, age 101, died on August 8, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Hospice Center in Henderson, KY. He came to Illinois in the late 1930’s to work in the oil field. He was employed by Halliburton Oil Well and Cementing Company for 35 years, working most of his career as a field-man. He retired from the company in 1974 and remained in Henderson until his death.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Conley of Charleston, IL, Janet Leathers of Marion, OH, and Judy Sigler of Mt. Carmel, IL; sons, James Lapington of Little Rock, AR, Wayne and wife Ricki Lapington of Louisville, IL, Stevan and wife Karen Lapington of McLeansboro, IL; a son-in-law Edgar Bass of Wakeman, OH; 21 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Harold Doty and Sam Miller, and sister-in-laws Lois Shull, Evelyn Miller, Orda Doty, Janet Doty and Jeanne Doty.
Funeral services for Irby Lee Lapington will be 11:00 am on Saturday, August 13th, 2016, at the Church of Christ of Beecher City, IL with burial in the Beecher City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of service at the church
