James “Jim” Clayton Lathrop, Fairfield

James Lathrop72-year-old Fairfield resident and Wayne City native, James “Jim” Clayton Lathrop, died at his home at 5:10 p.m. on Friday, November 25. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and taught grade school in his earlier years. He attended Ellen Moore United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

Survivors include four sisters, Bonnie (Ivan) Holler and Barbara (Robert) Bolton of Fairfield, Betty (Eshmal) Porter of St. Louis, Missouri, and Dorothy Utley of Tifton, Georgia, one brother Bob (Doretta) Lathrop of Sterling, Illinois, one sister-in-law Trixie Lathrop of Wayne City, IL and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Jim Lathrop will be at noon on Tuesday, November 29, at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel in Wayne City with burial in Thomason Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials can be made to help with the funeral expenses and will be accepted at the chapel or the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of all of the arrangements.
