Carl Leon Taylor – Carmi

Carl84-year-old Carmi resident, Carl Leon Taylor died Monday evening in Mt. Vernon, Indiana.   After graduating from Vienna High School in 1951, Carl joined the Air Force and saw duty in Japan during the Korean Conflict.  In 1959 Lampley Electric of Carmi hired Carl to work in television repair. Carl taught electronics in the 1970s and 1980s at the Vocational School at Centervill.  He was later hired as a custodian at Jefferson School, where he worked until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Crossroads Church.

Survivors include  his wife, Bonnie, of Carmi. His son, Mark Alan Taylor and wife Vicky (Kemp) live in rural Mt. Vernon, Illinois, while Carla Joan and her husband Duane Ediger live in Nolensville, Tennessee. His grandchildren are Mathew Alan Taylor (wife Pam Kehoe) of Southington, Ohio, and Amanda Dawn Carnes (husband Mike Carnes), and two step-grandchildren, Jason Lee Ediger of Santa Rosa, California and Brooke Mariah Boor (husband Zach Boor) of Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado.  Great-grandchildren include Madison Abigail Taylor, Wyatt Lane Carnes, Jacob Dylan Taylor and one step-great-grandchild, Scarlett Lee Ediger.

Also surviving are three brothers, Kenneth (Faye) Taylor of Vienna, Connie (Janice) Taylor of Vienna, Jimmy (June) Taylor of Mesa, Arizona, and one sister, Joyce (Jim Bob) Gray of Vienna.

Funeral services for Carl Leon Taylor will be 12 noon Saturday, February 25 at the Crossroads Bible Church in Norris City with burial at Taylor Cemetery near Vienna.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service at the Crossroads Bible Church in Norris City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hal Lindsey Report in Tulsa, OK, Andrew Wommack Ministries in Colorado Springs, CO or the Crossroads Bible Church in Norris City.  The Cook Chapel of Carmi is in charge of all the arrangements.
