Maxine R. Howell, 99, of Carmi, Illinois, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at her home. Maxine worked for many years as a telephone operator and secretary. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Jane Harvey; daughter in law Dora Howell; grandchildren Claeten Brown, Sarah Howell/Brown, Shayna Evans, Odum Howell, II; and great grandchildren Zachary Brown, Robert Brown, and Gabriel Orion Dill.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Jerry Lee Howell; brothers Gus, George, and Vern Lowe; sisters Fay and Edythe Lowe, and Kathryn Pyle.
Visitation and funeral services for Maxine R. Howell will be on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Visitation is at noon and funeral is at 2 pm. Burial is in Big Prairie Cemetery.
