William Roy Robley – Enfield

William Roy Robley, 96, of rural Enfield, Illinois, died Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. He was a past member of Seven Mile Church.  Mr. Robley was an innovative farmer, being among the first to plant no-till corn in White County.  He bought one of the first no-till planters and did custom planting for farmers in White, Wayne and Hamilton Counties.  For thirty years, Roy was a dealer and distributor for Bo-Jac Hybrid Seed Corn, and he was chairman of the White County A.S.C.S. Committee, and he also did measuring and staking for A.S.C.S.   Many may remember Roy from the 27 years he sold tickets at the main gate of the White County Fair, or for the years when he served as an election judge.

Survivors include daughters Jeanette (Paul) Schalk of Carmi, Linda Louise Robley of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; grandchildren Doug (Amy) Schalk of Evansville, Indiana, and Gayla Schalk of Carmi.  He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Donna Sue Robley; and step-mother Emma Robley.

Visitation and funeral are Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.  Visitation is 11am to 1 pm, with funeral at 1 pm.  Burial is in Newman Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to White County Senior Citizens or Wabash Christian Retirement Center Activities Department and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel.
