Mary L. Karcher, 92, of Suwanee, Georgia and formerly of McLeansboro, Illinois passed away June 28 at Country Gardens Senior Living, Duluth, GA. She was born Nov. 25, 1925 in Aden, Illinois, the daughter of Hartley & Ethel (Rainwater) Taylor. She married Clyde J. Karcher on June 1, 1945. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 2006 after 61 years of marriage.
In Illinois, country living suited Mary as she was a supportive farmer’s wife and was fond of gardening. She was a longtime faithful member of Mt. Olivet General Baptist Church, McLeansboro, IL. She moved to Suwanee, GA in 2014 to live with her daughter Brenda & husband Sam where she loved attending Peachtree Corners Baptist Church with them and participating in Happy Hearts. While living in Georgia, Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Steinman & husband Sam of Suwanee, GA and Karen McClain & husband Winston of Cordova, TN; 3 grandchildren, Angela Many & husband Heath of Bomet, Kenya, Tonya Jones & husband Wallace of Peachtree Corners, GA, Austin McClain & wife Naomi of Roanoke, VA; 9 great grandchildren, Rees & Mary Taylor Many of Bomet, Kenya, Rylie, Lacie, & Charlie Jones of Peachtree Corners, GA, Joseph, Noah, Abigail, & Isaac McClain of Roanoke, VA; one sister, Doris Higginson of McLeansboro, IL.; one sister-in-law, Lena Taylor of Aden, IL; many nieces & nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 2 brothers, Clarence Taylor and Leslie Taylor. The memorial service will be held at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Peachtree Corners, GA on July 3 at 11:00 am with viewing at 10:00. There will be a graveside service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McLeansboro, IL on July 5 at 2:00 pm followed by a reception at Mt. Olivet General Baptist Church. Graveside Services are under the direction of Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL
