Joseph E. Fleming Sr. – Sun City, Arizona

99 year-old Joseph E. Fleming Sr. died on Tuesday, July 17 in Sun City, Arizona.

He was employed at the Pure Oil Company in Cisne, then enlisted in the U. S. Army air corps following the outbreak of World War II.  Following the war, he returned to Pure Oil for a total of 22 years.  He then worked as an accountant for Merrill Loy in Fairfield until he was able to obtain his Illinois CPA license. At that point, he and Mr. Loy formed a partnership accounting practice. A few years later, Mr. Loy sold his part of the business to Joe and moved out of state. The Fleming firm continued for several years until his retirement and was purchased by McDowell, Kenshalo & Jesop. He obtained a CPA license in Arizona, and continued doing tax accounting work until the age of 92.

He is survived by his two sons, Joseph E Fleming, Jr. (Sue Williams) (North Richland Hills, TX), Jeffrey Eldon Fleming (June Anderson) (Olney, IL), wife Judy and step-sons Thomas and Robert Heffron & families, and  four grandchildren: Justin (Heather) Fleming (Ellicott City, MD), Jason (Terryll) Fleming (Colorado Springs, CO), David (Marilu) Fleming (Little Elm, Texas) and Christy (Jeff) Kade (Georgetown, TX), and six great-grandchildren Seth Kade, Johnny Kade, Daniel Fleming, Alana Fleming, Hailey Fleming, and Harper Fleming.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, August 11 at Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Memorials in memory of Joe may be made to Frontier Community College in Fairfield.
