Betty Lou Brown – Carmi

86 year-old Betty Lou Brown of Carmi, died Monday, August 20, at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. She was born August 19, 1932, in Sullivan County, Indiana, the daughter of Ralph Herman Ford and Ethel Lucille (Mickey) Ford. She was married to Frank Corbin Brown on July 15, 1951, and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1994.

For many years, Betty’s husband, Frank, was minister of First Christian Church in Carmi. She faithfully served alongside Frank, and was actively involved in many church activities, as well as many different functions at the Carmi-White County High School. She is probably best known for her passion in working as a drama coach for many stage productions involving the High School and the Carmi League of Arts.

Survivors include sons Mark (Patricia) Brown, Todd (Karen) Brown, Kevin (Gina) Brown; daughters Vanessa (Mark) Watkins, Lori (Rick) Kuykendall; sisters Judith Parks and Sue Lang; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Sandra Yates; and great granddaughter Callie Woods.

Visitation and funeral are Friday, August 24 at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Visitation is at 10:00 am, and funeral is at 12:00 noon, with burial in Johnson Cemetery in Graysville, Indiana.
