Carol A. Pixley – Mt. Vernon, IL

Carol Ann Pixley, 81, of Mount Vernon, IL passed away at 8 a.m. August 10, 2018 at her residence in Mount Vernon. She was born October 17, 1936 in Wabash County, IL to the late Marshall Hinderliter and Evadna (Beal) Hinderliter. She married Loren William Pixley on June 17, 1956 in Mount Carmel, IL. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 18, 2017.
Carol is survived by her son, William Pixley and wife, Sharon of Mount Vernon; daughters, Lee Ann Pixley of Auburn, IN and Mary (Pixley) Hall and husband, Jeff of Braintree, MA; grandchildren: Tyler, Maria, and Laina; great grandchild, David; brother, Bob Hinderliter and wife, Iris; sister-in-law, Lee Hinderliter; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Richard Hinderliter; and sister, Fleida Wright.
Carol graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught elementary aged children over the course of many years. Carol was a member of Immanuel Methodist Church in Olney, IL and was a member of their quilting club. Carol was a proud member of the Richland Heritage Museum Foundation. She loved gardening, canning and preserving, quilting, woodworking, and redecorating. The family would like to give a special thank you to SSM Hospice Home Care and Addus Healthcare.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem with Chaplain Chuck Smith and Mr. David Bailey officiating. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the SSM Health at Home Hospice or to the Richland Heritage Museum Foundation.
