Michael I. Carlile – Dahlgren

Michael Ira Carlile, 77, a resident of Dahlgren, Illinois, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

 

He was born in Kankakee, Illinois on December 13, 1940 to Willie E. and Anna (Gosnell) Carlile.  Michael was U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War.  He also earned a Masters Degree in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois.

 

Michael is survived by sons, Brian (Cheryl) Carlile of Peoria, IL and Neal Carlile of Peoria, IL; daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Peterson of Peoria, IL; brother, Thomas Carlile of Marion, IL; and his dance partner, Shirley Boldwyn.  Ten grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bill and Jim Carlile; and one sister, Sharon Perry.

 

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Thompsonville with Rev. Earl Webb officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday, September 15 from 9:00 a.m until 10:30 a.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren.  He will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with graveside Military Rites performed by American Legion Post 106 and a Navy Honors Team.  Memorial donations may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren.
