Everett E. Mitchell – McLeansboro

Everett E. Mitchell, 75, of McLeansboro passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at his home. He was born May 10, 1943 in Dale, IL to Mark and Nellie (Ruphard) Mitchell. On December 21, 1961, he married Glenda Fay Brockett. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2017.

Everett worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for over 25 years. He was an avid fisherman and coon hunter. He was a charter member of the Hamilton County Coyote Club, a member of Polk Lodge 137 A.F. and A.M. of McLeansboro, and a former member of B.P.O.E. 1882. Everett was most happy when he was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Survivors include his son, Glendal Mitchell and wife Rhonda of McLeansboro, and his daughter, Beth Stevens and husband Jeff, also of McLeansboro. In addition to his children, he is survived by his grandchildren, Ryan Stevens, Dylan Mitchell, Kelsey Brown and husband Jordan, and Remington Stevens, and 2 great granddaughters, Evelyn Faye Brown and Allie Ray Brown. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Ruthie Holcomb, Vada Faye Webber, and Ottilee Kaufman, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glenda; brothers Ikey, Jerry, and John; and sisters Elizabeth Short and Dena Craddock.

Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with his brother in law, Robert K. Brockett, officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery, east of McLeansboro.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions will be accepted at the funeral home to offset expenses for the family.
