Viola M. Rhein – Carmi

Viola M. Rhein 87 of Carmi, passed away Sunday morning October 7, 2018 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. She was born June 27, 1931 in Lawrenceville, the daughter of Herschel Ted and Anna Mae (Eagle) Carter. She married Rev. Donald “Don” Rhein on January 24, 1953 in Lawrenceville and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2005.

Viola was a minister’s wife, she loved her music and especially singing. She enjoyed puzzles of all kinds. But most of all she loved her family. She was a member of Carmi New Beginning Church of God.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheri (Mark) Stevens; grandson, James Christian Rhein Stevens; sister, Jeanne Bair and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, G.W. “Wib” Carter; sisters, Velma Carter, Mary Lou Crider and Patty Ann Grissom and nephew Mark Grissom.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at the Carmi New Beginning Church of God. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at the church. Graveside rites will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Stokes Chapel Cemetery. Friends and Family are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
