Erma Barlow – formerly of Wayne City

Erma Barlow, 99, formerly of Wayne City, passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday (December 11) in Flora.

Erma was born on November 16, 1919 in LaSalle County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Chancy Sylvester and Zelma Alta (Ward) Draper.

She married Paris Richardson, who preceded her in death in WWII. She later married Howard Barlow.

Erma Barlow is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Walter) Richardson; three granddaughters: Amy (Rick) Doty, Rebecca (Lee) Wiley, and Laura (Jody) Higginbotham; and three great-grandchildren: Rachel, Elizabeth, and Curtis.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Olive Carstens, Burrell Draper, Vera Hertenstein, George Draper, Bernice Tullis, and Bertha Draper.

She had worked at Airtex and was a co-owner of Barlow’s Apple House.

Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Wayne City on Saturday (December 15) at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Oblong Children’s Home or Sonlight Minstries in Haiti, both favorite missions of hers. Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
