Janis E. Waugh – Edwardsville

Janis E. Waugh, 72, of Edwardsville, IL, died at 3:15AM on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Janis grew up in Fairfield and was a proud Fairfield Mule, along with becoming Miss Fairfield as a high school senior in 1964. Jan married a fellow teacher, Robert, and moved to Wisconsin to continue her long and respected career as a high school business teacher. After retirement they returned home to southern Illinois. Jan was a beloved, wonderful and supportive mother who lived life on her terms. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband and family.  Janis was born on November 3, 1946 in Evansville, IN, to Byron and Esther (Pappas) Stephens.

Survivors include her husband Bob Waugh of Edwardsville, IL, one son Bryan (Maggie Morscher) Waugh of Ogden, UT, and one step-son Michael (Kathy) Waugh of Parker, CO, one daughter Jennifer Waugh of Madison, WI, and one step-daughter Debbie (Dan) Heder of Milton, WI, 4 grandchildren Ethan and Dylan Waugh, Brianne (Daniel) Miller, Malachi (Jenna) Heder, and one granddaughter on the way, one great grandchild Franklin Miller, one brother Bruce (Janie) Stephens, and one sister Kaye Schroeder of Lake St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister-in-law Tammy Stephens.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 10AM-10:45AM at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.  A private burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
