Charles E. Balding, 81 of Fairfield died at 3:15 PM, January 9, 2019 at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, IL. Born on June 8, 1937 in Edwards County, IL to Raymond and Eloise (Berg) Balding, he was a Veteran of the US Army, a heavy equipment operator for Amalco Inc. and a truck driver for Centralia Cartage.
Charles is survived by his wife Sonja Balding of Fairfield, sons Stephan (Sandra) Balding of Barnhill and Rod (Trish) Balding of Marshall, IL, daughter Charla (Kent) Fitzsimmons of Evansville, IN, 4 grandchildren- Tyler (Danielle) Fitzsimmons of Bloomington, IN, Madelyn Fitzsimmons of Evansville, IN, Alyssa Balding of Evansville, IN, and Audrey Balding of Barnhill, IL, brother Jim (Vivian) Balding of Chandler, IN, sisters Pat Seifried of Grayville, IL, Judy Parker of Scottsdale, AZ, and Martha Rae Eads of Belmont, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Don Balding.
Funeral services for Charles Balding will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, January 15 at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials in his honor may be made to the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Foundation for the Medical/Surgical Floor or Disabled American Veterans Chapter 80 in Fairfield.
