Dwight O Weaver – Cisne

DWIGHT O WEAVER, 99, of Cisne, Illinois passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.

Dwight O Weaver was born on Halloween, October 31, 1919 to Lewis and Eva (Dickey) Weaver near Johnsonville, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Mae Lowe on January 28, 1942. Evelyn’s parents were Clarence and Tillie (Pennington) Lowe also of the Johnsonville area.

Right after he and Evelyn were married, Dwight went into the Army. He served from 1942 to 1945, during World War II, at locations in England, France, Belgium, and Germany.

Dwight provided for his family by farming from 1946-1985 and was also hired as custodian of the new Berry Consolidated Grade School in 1953 from which he retired after twenty-two years. He then worked as a carpenter from which he retired in 1995.

Dwight enjoyed playing golf with a group of friends and relatives for over thirty-two years. The various courses they played reached from southern Illinois to near the Wisconsin border in northern Illinois. Dwight had to give up that pleasure due to knee problems in October 2008.

Dwight was a resident of Berry Township in Wayne County all his life. He enjoyed good health by trusting in the Lord and living a Christian life. He spent much time reading the Bible and enjoyed discussing what he read. He was a member of the Round Prairie General Baptist Church since his teenage years. He served as a deacon for over fifty years and as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He really enjoyed listening to Gospel songs and singing praises to his Lord and Savior.

Dwight is survived by his wife of 76 years Evelyn Weaver of Cisne, Illinois; son Carl Dwight Weaver of Sandoval, daughter Juanice Elaine Jackson of Wayne City, son Danny Dean Weaver of Cisne, daughter Kathie Evelyn Shepard of Cisne, son Vernon Clarence Weaver of Wayne City, 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents Eva and Lewis Weaver, a daughter Sandra Arlene Barefield, daughter-in-law Linda Kay Weaver, one sister Evelyn Edwards, and four brothers, Clifford, Evan, Donnie, and Hobart.

Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at the Round Prairie General Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5-8 pm on Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Round Prairie General Baptist Church.  Burial will be in Round Prairie Cemetery.
