Glenna K. Monroe – Fairfield

Glenna Kaye Monroe (nee Rickard) passed away on January 26, 2019.  She was born August 30, 1947 to Glen Alfred Rickard and Vonda Louise Rickard (nee Cox) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  Glenna lived in Fairfield, Illinois until she was married to Robert Dean Monroe on December 30, 1966.  They moved to Collinsville, IL to pursue careers where they lived until Robert passed away on January 2, 2007.  A few years later she moved back to Fairfield, Illinois where she lived the remainder of her years.  Glenna had two sons born to this union: Robbie Denton Monroe and Jamie Douglas Monroe.  She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Monroe and her father Glen Rickard.

She is survived by her mother Vonda Rickard, her sister Lyndal Hefley (Jerry), her sons Robbie Monroe (Amy) and Jamie Monroe (Lisa), her grandchildren Clayton Monroe (Madeline), Madison Monroe, Emily Monroe, Joshua Monroe and great grandchild Genevieve Grace Monroe.  Glenna Monroe loved and followed Jesus as a member of First Baptist Church Fairfield.  She lives on but will be missed by family and friends.  Funeral services for Glenna will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, February 2nd at the First Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday at the Church.  Memorials in her honor may be made to the First Baptist Church and will be accepted at the church, or Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.
