A ice storm has prompted a number of church closings this morning. Illinois State Police report I-57 both north and south of Mt. Vernon is treacherous and the scene of a number of accidents. No accidents reported by Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. One fall reported by Fairfield Police. A thin sheet of ice fell early this morning with the heaviest ice reported over Wayne and Edwards Counties. Please check the WFIW closings page for updated information.

The Director of the Wayne County Ambulance Service says there are always two complete crews ready around the clock to serve the Fairfield area. Sherry Brown spoke at the Thursday Fairfield Rotary Club.

Frontier Community College is offering a Bowling class at Spare Time in Albion beginning February 28. Bowling will meet on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. For more information call 842-3711.

The pastor of Fairfield First United Methodist Church will be leaving Fairfield to relocate to Florida to be closer to her daughter who is dealing with medical issues. Donna Blythe has been the pastor at FUMC for over four years.
