Bernadine Auvil, 96, of Fairfield, died at 5:37AM on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Cisne Rehabilitation and Health Care in Cisne, IL. She had worked as a secretary for Shell Oil Distribution and had also been a cook at Wayfair Nursing Home for many years. Bernadine was born on June 30, 1922, in Wayne County, to Roy and Hazel (Grove) Lane. She was married to the late Irl Rex Auvil.
Survivors include three daughters Karen (Jack) Copeland of Millington, TN, LaVern Whiddon of Memphis, TN, and Pat (Craig) Gottfried of Fairfield, six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, one sister Doris Galiher of Cisne, IL, and one brother Carroll (June) Lane of Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one granddaughter Tammy Blowers.
Funeral services for Bernadine Auvil will be at 11AM on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the FCHS Music Department and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
