Mary Elizabeth Trotter – Wayne City

101-year-old Wayne City resident, Mary Elizabeth Trotter, died at 4:38 a.m. Saturday, March 30th at Hamilton Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center in McLeansboro, Il.   She was a member of the Belle Prairie Baptist Church and Ellis Mound Baptist Church.  She helped farm and loved traveling, camping and fishing with her husband.  She was a Secretary/Treasurer for the Belle Prairie Household Club, attended West Side, East Side and the old High School in McLeansboro and attended Lockyear’s Business College in Evansville, IN.  She also worked in the County Clerk’s Office and later as a Telephone Operator in McLeansboro, IL.

Surviving are a son, John and wife Debbie of Wayne City; one daughter, Kay Melton of Dahlgren; seven grandchildren, Melody Warne and husband Tommy of Cambridge, OH, Lynn Smith of Dahlgren, Kevin Smith and wife Julie of Greely, CO, Lloyd Rusk and wife Sandy of Festus, MO, Tara Tracy and husband Mike of Havasu City, AZ, Jason Trotter of Los Angeles, CA and Brandon Trotter of Murfreesboro, TN; 16 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Trotter will be at noon Tuesday, April 2nd at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, IL with Rev. Richard McCormick officiating.  Burial will be in Crouch Cemetery at Belle Prairie, IL.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday, April 2nd, at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, IL, which is in charge of the arrangements.
