Jim Vest, 75, of Fairfield passed away at 3:34AM on Sunday April 21st at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt Vernon. He had worked at Owens Illinois in California for 20+ years and more recently at North American Lighting in Maintenance and he was a Vietnam Veteran. Jim was born on May 16th, 1943 in Los Angeles California to James Earl and Vivian (Martin) Vest.
Jim is survived by his wife- Doris West-Vest of Fairfield, Sons- Landon James Vest of Fairfield, Robert Edward Vest of Cisne, and James (Cindy) Vest of Riverside CA; Daughters- Samantha Glad of Pueblo Co, and Michelle (Earl) Jolly of Fairfield; 2 Step-Daughters- Pattie (Rusty) Webb and Leah (Jimmy) Scott both of Fairfield. 15 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren also survive.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and Sister- Bonnie Bruynell.
Jim’s body will be cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Saturday April 27th at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery Veteran’s Section with military rites provided by Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County Post #4535 VFW.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Educational Fund for his son Landon and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of all the arrangements.
