74-year-old Peter Daniel “Pete” Kavalos of Grayville, formerly of San Antonio, Texas, died Thursday, May 16 at his home. He was born August 3, 1944 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of Paul Kavalos and Jane (Gallant) Kunkel.
Pete was a United States Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a retired restaurateur and he also owned and operated a pawn shop. He enjoyed flea markets, going to the beach and taking trips to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Survivors include daughters Stacee (J.R.) Zigmond, Chrissy (Greg) Chapman, all of Grayville, Darrah Kavalos of San Antonio; grandchildren James Dowlearn, Peter Dowlearn, Dillon Cox, Chelssie Lopez, Alexis Shaw; great grandchildren Heston Holcomb-Dowlearn, Koda Dowlearn, Kohen Dowlearn.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and uncle and aunt, Joe and Virginia Bonaminio.
There will be no local services in Grayville. A visitation and funeral will be Thursday, May 23 at Shertz Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. Visitation is at 10 a.m. and funeral is at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio.
