Francis Ray Cox, 84, of Crossville, Illinois, died Friday, June 07, 2019, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi, Illinois. He was born March 19, 1935, in Springfield, Indiana, the son of Joel N. and Anna (Phillips) Cox. He was married to Phyllis (Mier) Cox on January 7, 1954. They were married for 65 years. He was the last of seven brothers and sisters.
Ray was a farmer and a United States Army veteran, serving in Germany in 1958 and 1959. He also worked as a mechanic at Carter’s Texaco Service Station in Crossville.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Cox of Crossville; sons Billy Ray (Cheryl) Cox of Evansville, IN, Jeffrey Ralph (Shana) Cox of Crossville; sister-in-law Leanna Reece; five grandchildren; one great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation is 5-7 pm, Monday, June 10, 2019, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi, Illinois. Military honors will be conducted at 7:00 pm, immediately following the visitation at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Private family burial will follow at a later date in Phillipstown Cemetery in Phillipstown, IL.
