Robert “Bob” Aydt – McLeansboro

79-year-old McLeansboro resident Robert “Bob” Aydt died at 2:05 a.m. on Thursday (July 4th) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was a retail merchant, the owner of Aydt’s Hardware, and an avid TV watcher. He had served in the U.S. Army in Germany and was a member of St. John Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis.

Bob Aydt was born September 21st, 1939, in McLeansboro to Charles T. Aydt and Katherine “Katie” Rubenacker. He married Mary Ann Coy on May 30th, 1966, in Piopolis.

Bob Aydt is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; two sons- David Lee (Shanna) of McLeansboro and Michael Alan (Kendra) of Dahlgren; two daughters, Keren Sue (Kevin) Maxim of St. Louis and Shannon Renee (Mark) Brown of McLeansboro; nine grandchildren: Peyton Aydt, Abram Aydt, Gracie Pate, Savannah Pate, Kathryn Maxim, Kimberly Maxim, Kyle Maxim, Jordan (Kelsey) Brown, and Emily Brown; two great-grandchildren: Evelyn and Allie Brown; sister Sister Agnes Aydt of St. Louis; and brother Leo (Patsy) Aydt of McLeansboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Rodney Aydt, and brother Alfred Aydt.

Visitation for Bob Aydt will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday (July 7th) at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. A rosary service will be conducted at 7. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday (July 8th) at St. John’s Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis; Father Slawomir Ptak will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 106 of McLeansboro and the Military Honor Team of Marion.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and they will be accepted at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is in charge of arrangements.
