Marlys A. Manahan

Marlys Anne (Miller) Manahan, 87, died Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, IL.

Marlys was born in Sims, IL to Jesse and Iva (Fenton) Miller. She worked as a secretary in Fairfield before taking on the role of mother and homemaker. In 1951, she married Elmo Manahan and, together, they raised their children and created their farming home in the Cisne-Geff area.

Marlys lovingly cared for family and friends. A talented piano player, she served as church pianist for many years. She enjoyed serving, quilting, gardening, cooking, and helping her husband with operating the farm.

Survivors include her husband Elmo of Fairfield, two sons Michael (Teresa) Manahan of Suwanee, GA, and Monty Manahan of Fairfield, two daughters Angela (Robert) Barrett of Cisne, and Sharon (Vernon) Hudalla of Phoenix, AZ, one brother Jimmy (Phyllis) Miller of Sesser, IL, four grandchildren Jessica Manahan, Sarah Mastrorocco, Randy Barrett and Rachel Delaney, four great grandchildren Ivy, Hunter, Kinsley, and Rey, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services for Marlys Manahan will be at 1PM on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Oak Valley Cemetery in Geff. Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Oak Valley Church and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
