Charles Allen Talbert – Barnhill

68-year-old Charles Allen Talbert of Barnhill, died Thursday, August 22 at his residence in Barnhill. He was active in farming for 45+ years with J.A. Simpson, his father-in-law, and Billy Doggett, his nephew. 

Allen worked at the gas station in Cisne during his high school years, AMF in Olney while attending Olney Community College and the Kraft corporation in Champaign, IL.

Allen loved being outside with nature, enjoyed ATV riding, and Daffodils. He made it a mission to encompass his farm with them. Every Spring, 3 crosses of Daffodils would adorn the hillside of one of the pastures. Everyone passing by on Rt. 45 could see them. He was also a member of the Mill Shoals Ruritan Club and enjoyed attending the Johnsonville Methodist Church.  The Great Smoky Mountains was a favorite vacation destination throughout his life

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 27 from 11-1pm with funeral services starting immediately afterwards at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home. Graveside service will be conducted at the Shrewsbury Cemetery in Mill Shoals.

Allen was born on March 4, 1951 to Bernard and Colleen (Caudle) Talbert in Rural Johnsonville, IL. He married Rena Joy Simpson on May 29, 1971 in Mill Shoals, IL.

Allen is survived by his sons, Matthew (Ann) Talbert of Monticello, IL and Andrew (Christina) Talbert of Barnhill, IL; Grandchildren – Grace and Rose Talbert of Monticello, IL and Addison, AJ, Ava Talbert and Cadence Kratochvil of Barnhill, IL. Siblings – Paula (Leroy) Thompson of Mt. Vernon, IL; Faron (Joan) Talbert and Mark (Melissa) Talbert of Johnsonville, IL; and many nephews and nieces also survive.

Allen is proceeded in death by his wife, parents and a sister, Pauletta Talbert.

Memorials will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home and may be made to the Mill Shoals RuritansJohnsonville Methodist Churchor Steph’s Coffee Shop and Thangs in Mill Shoals.
