Doris K. Collins, 69, or rural Albion, IL, passed from this life to the next one on August 21, 2019 at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, IL.
She was born May 5, 1950 in Flora, IL to Wilma (Thompson) and Thomas Kennedy. She married Bill Collins on August 31, 1974 at Northside Baptist Church in Grayville, IL and he survives.
Doris enjoyed cooking, candy making, quilting, gardening and canning, keeping her family “lined out,” traveling, and loved her dogs. She enjoyed attending church and fellowshipping with her church family. Doris was a hard worker, who also cared about people. She provided home care services to many over the years. She was a good ole’ country girl who didn’t know how to do anything half-way. It was always go-go-go full throttle.
She is survived by her husband, Bill of rural Albion; four daughters, Diana (Bob) Christie, Angie (Leroy) Sharp, Amy Yates, and Bonnie (Danny) Hasselbrinck; three sons: Bill Collins Jr., Robert (Victoria) Collins, and Rick (Dionne) Kennedy; two sisters, Joyce (John) Thomas and Wanda Richardson; two brothers: Fred (Jeannette) Cox Jr. and John Cox; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several other brothers and sisters.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Fred Cox Sr., a brother, Tom Cox; a granddaughter, Nichol Kennedy; a grandson, Rickie Kennedy; and a sister-in-law, Cindy Cox.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. until noon at Ingram-Meredith Funeral Home in Albion. The funeral service will be at noon at the funeral home with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.
Doris loved to travel, as was mentioned, and following her battle with cancer, she planned to go to the Bahamas. Since that plan didn’t come to fruition, her daughters are air-brushing her casket with a tropical theme and are “bringing the Bahamas” to her! The family will be wearing tropical style vacation clothes and encourage everyone attending to do the same.
Memorials may be made to the Grayville Senior Citizens Center, and envelopes will be available at the service.
