Roy R. Redmon – McLeansboro

88-year-old Roy R. Redmon of McLeansboro, died at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24 at McLeansboro Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in McLeansboro. He was a local construction worker for Local 1197. Roy served in the Army in the Korean War 1952-1954. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Belle Prairie, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He was born on January 18, 1931 in Aden to George Normal “Boots” Redmon and Mary Mariah (Wilson) Redmon. He married Wanda Fay (Tedford) Redmon on January 7, 1955 in McLeansboro. She passed away on February 18, 1982.

Survivors include two daughters: Shannon B. Owen and husband Guy of McLeansboro, Michelle M. Johnson and husband Paul Brent of McLeansboro; a brother: Everett Redmon of Springerton; three sisters: Hazel Buchanan of Hope, Arkansas, Floann Hart of McLeansboro, and Linda Ruth Dickey of Wayne City; three grandchildren: Paul Derek Johnson and fiancee Lacey Martin of McLeansboro, Amanda M. Johnson of Carmi, and Lucas Owen and wife Amanda of McLeansboro; three great-grandchildren: Lily Grace, Savannah Owen and Katherine Johnson; special nephew: Steven Barker and wife Cheryl of McLeansboro. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, spouse Wanda, son: Jimmy Don Redmon, brothers: Marvin, Ronnie and brother, Orville Andrew Redmon; sisters: Ruby Sefried, Helen Severs and Shirley Tedford.

Graveside burial services for Roy R. Redmon will be held at 12 noon on Friday, September 27 at Blooming Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro. Graveside Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #106 and Military Honor Team of Marion. Rev. Robert Sefried will be officiating. Burial will be at Blooming Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, September 27 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, followed by the graveside burial service.
