Mary M. Carter, 90, of Geff, died at 12:45PM on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi, IL. She had been a bookkeeper for Davis and Sons Oil Co for many years. Mary was born on October 9, 1928, in Geff, IL, to Walter “Raleigh” and Juanita (Miller) McDannel. She was married to Lawrence “Til” Carter, who survives.
Survivors include her husband Lawrence “Til” Carter of Geff, one son Larry (Pat) Carter of Fairfield, one daughter Becky Carter of Geff, four grandchildren Gary (Judith) Bolen, Wendy (Dave) Ahlstedt, Laurie Bolen, and Nicholas Carter, four great grandchildren Hailey Bolen, Paige Tadlock, Carter Ahlstedt, and Caleb Ahlstedt, and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Ron Carter, and one brother and sister-in-law Thomas (Betty) McDannel.
Funeral services for Mary Carter will be at 1PM on Thursday, October 3rd, at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Bestow Cemetery in Geff. Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial Donations can be made to the Geff Christian Church and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
