Marvin H. “Pete” Roosevelt – Albion

92-year-old Albion resident, Marvin H. “Pete” Roosevelt, died Tuesday morning, October 15 at Rest Haven Manor in Albion.

Pete was born January 14, 1927 in Albion, Illinois. He was the son of Gilbert and Edith (Smith) Roosevelt. He married Frances Mann on June 23, 1948 in Morganfield, Kentucky and she survives.

Pete was a truck driver for Garman Trucking in Fairfield for several years, a self-employed carpenter, and retired from working at Pillsbury-West Elevator in Browns. He was an Army Veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of the Little Prairie Christian Church, the Albion Moose Lodge 621, VFW, and the American Legion. He was a lifelong Democrat.

He is survived by his wife, Frances, one son Phil (Kim) Roosevelt of Albion and two daughters, Janice (Steve) Shaw of Albion and Jeanette (Bruce) Lear of West Salem; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild and 3 great grandchildren on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mid Barber and one brother, Joe Roosevelt.

Funeral services for Pete Roosevelt will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 18 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion with Brother David Shain officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post 590 and VFW Post 8222. Memorials can be made to the Edwards County Senior Citizens and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home.
