Charles Ray “Charlie” Brines – Grayville

72-year-old Charles Ray “Charlie” Brines of Grayville, died at home on October 16.  He was born September 2, 1947, in Cowling, Illinois, the son of Charles and Maudie (Sims) Brines. He was married to Christina M. “Chris” (Hampsten) Brines on May 7, 1965, and she survives. Charlie worked at various jobs involved in oil production in the Illinois Oil Basin.

Charlie was a lover of all things outdoors including hunting, fishing, golf, and all sports.  He had a passion for high school sports, and left many lasting impressions on several athletes. He treasured his many friends and family.

Survivors include his life long partner and wife, Christina “Chris” Brines of Grayville; daughter Tina (Kelly) Rickert of North Dakota; sisters Audra (Marshall) Wilkinson of Allendale, Illinois, Sheila (Doug) Knight of Cowling; grandson Tanner (Kaci) Hyatt of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; granddaughters Eli Rickert of Montana, Darian (Thomas) Davis of North Dakota.  Charlie was most proud of his 4 great grandchildren, Parker Lee Hyatt, Gracie Loo Davis, Ellie Ray Davis and Harrison Charles Davis.  He had many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends whom he loved deeply.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother Lester Brines.

The family of Charlie thanks the Deaconess Care Team and Residential Home Hospice for their compassionate care.

Visitation is 5-7 pm, Friday, October 18 at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Funeral is at 10 am, Saturday, October 19 at Cook Funeral Chapel with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.

Memorials may be made to the Grayville Schools Athletic Department, and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville.
