79-year-old Richard B. Bennett of Orchardville, died on Saturday, October 19 at his residence.
Richard was born at Xenia, Illinois, November 20, 1939 to William S. and Laura E. (Burgess) Bennett. He married Lita Diann Mayo October 6, 1961 at Providence General Baptist Church near Johnsonville, Illinois and she survives.
Richard was a self-employed farmer and enjoyed farming, traveling, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the Army Reserves. He was also a member and deacon of the Providence General Baptist Church and a board member of Wabash Telephone Cooperative in Louisville, Illinois for several years.
Richard is survived by his wife Diann, four sons Tracy (Cathy) Bennett and Bryan (Judy) Bennett all of Orchardville, Illinois, Travis Bennett of Fairview, Tennessee, and Shane (Jerrie Ann) Bennett of Jackson, Tennessee. Six grandchildren Derek B. (Rebecca) Bennett, Dylan J. (Hannah) Bennett, Rachel F. Fornwalt, Natasha N. (Chad) Hershey, Kole A. R. Bennett, Aaron D. W. Bennett and four great grandchildren Ogden N. B. Bennett, Elouisa E. Bennett, Theo D. Bennett and Etta Fornwalt also survive.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one granddaughter Mandy K. Bennett, one grandson Drew A. Bennett, and one brother William H. Bennett.
A Celebration of Life service will be 3:00 pm Saturday, October 26 at Providence General Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday 1:00 pm until the time of service.
Memorials may be given to the Providence General Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home or at the church.
