John Head – Albion

72-year-old Albion resident John Head passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 2020 at Wabash Valley General Hospital ER in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

John was born July 18, 1947 in Owensboro, Kentucky. He was the son of Virgil and Margaret (Fischer) Head. He married Katy Cravens on July 14, 1990 in Albion, Illinois and she survives. John was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Seabees during Vietnam. He worked for the Laborers Union 561 out of Evansville, Indiana for 49 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8222 and was a member of the American Legion in Mt. Carmel.

John is survived by his wife Katy; two sons, Jim (Molly) Head of Bremerton, Washington, and John (Gina) White of Evansville, Indiana; one daughter, April (Mattie) Ross of Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Three Brothers, Mike Head of Winslow, Indiana, Tony (Denise) Head of Velpen, Indiana and Virgil (Susan) Head of Jasper, Indiana; Four sisters, Margaret (Tim) Hardin of Pikeville, Indiana, Ruth Crays of Ferdinand, Indiana, Linda (Larry) Werne of Ferdinand, Indiana and Virginia Brown of Ferdinand, Indiana; Nine grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Anthony, Ella, Milo, Colin, Lia, Summitt, and Saylor and several nieces and nephews also survive. John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George and Paul, Sister, Audrey and step-daughter Jenny Casburn.

Graveside services for John Head will be Monday, January 13th, 2020 at 11:00am at Graceland Cemetery in Albion with military rites provided by American Legion Post 590 and VFW Post 8222. A visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am at Nale’s Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.nalesfuneralhome.com.
