60-year-old Tommy J. Gilpin of Carmi, died Monday, February 10, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born March 16, 1959, in Carmi, the son of Jess and Mildred (Peterson) Gilpin.
Tommy was retired from Airtex Products in Fairfield. He enjoyed motorcycles and his loyal dog companion, Cooper.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Dalton of Carmi; sons Tom (Jennifer) Gilpin of Herrin, Illinois, Mike Gilpin, Matt (Jessica) Gilpin, all of Carmi; brother Bill (Diana) Gilpin of Carmi, John (Virginia) Gilpin of Rossville, Illinois; sisters Barbara (Joe) Sweet of Marion, Illinois, Mary (Kenny) Johnson of Wadesville, Indiana; grandchildren Chase, Katie Sue, Madison, and M.J. Gilpin; and his beloved dog, Cooper.
He is preceded in death by his father; siblings Steve Gilpin, Betty Smith, Peggy Cutchin; and niece Tonya Gilpin.
Visitation and funeral are Sunday, February 16 at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Visitation is 1-3 pm, with funeral to follow at 3 pm. Cremation will follow.
