Ada Raye Colvin Lampley – formerly of Zenith

Ada Raye Colvin Lampley passed away to be with the Lord on February 19, 2020 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.  She was a resident of Guntersville, AL for 33 years, but was born in Zenith, IL near where she lived for many years.  She attended Flora High School in Flora, IL and Graceland College in Iowa.  Ada was preceded in death by her sister Norma Leanne Colvin Peterson of Flora, IL, parents Edward and Moyle Colvin of Flora, IL, and two brothers-in-law Delmer Peterson of Flora, IL and Kenny Patterson of Xenia, IL.  She was married for 35 years to Richard Lampley who also preceded her in death.  Together they were the parents of five children, Dale Lampley (Angie) of Geff, IL, Jon Lampley (Gina) of Fairfield, IL, Susan Needham (Andrew) of Meridianville, AL, Holly Lampley of Guntersville, AL, and Jayne Lampley of Knoxville, TN.  Ada was also a grandmother to four grandchildren, Tyler Lampley, Shauna Williams, Dillon Lampley, and Nyssa Needham, and one great-grandchild Emma Williams.  She is also survived by sister Joy Kaye Colvin Patterson of Liberty, MO.

Most of all, Ada was a proud mother and grandmother.  However, she was also a housekeeper, a nanny, a caregiver, and a cake decorator and baker throughout the years.  Ada was also very active in the arts community in Guntersville for many years as an art teacher and a member of the Mountain Valley Arts Council.  Her many talents included oil and pastel painting, cooking, sports, and gardening.  She served as a troop leader for Brownie Girl Scouts in Huntsville, AL for a time.  She also greatly enjoyed serving at various churches and cooked for Brush Creek Church camps in Illinois and various church events in Alabama.  She was a friend to many, loved helping others, and was always ready to tell others about her beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Funeral services for Ada Lampley will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, February 22 at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, IL, with burial to follow in Henson Cemetery near Orchardville, IL.  Visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
