60-year-old Paul Lee Prater of Carmi, died Sunday, March 15 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born February 20, 1960, in Pana, Illinois, the son of Norman Crane and Bertha Hastings. He was married to Linda (Morris) Prater on June 26, 1983, and she survives.
Paul was a truck driver and a member of the New Life Apostolic Church in Carmi. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, and mudding in his truck. But among his greatest joys were his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Prater of Carmi; sons Joshua (April) Prater of McLeansboro, Illinois, Shane (Alise) Prater of Carmi, Eric (Jessica) Prater of Enfield, Illinois, Aaron Prater and Christina of McLeansboro, Jordan (Jessica A.) Prater of Carmi, Ronnie Loggins of Junction City, Kansas, Randy (Ann) Carlton of Missouri; daughter Brooke (Christopher) Gipson of Crossville, Illinois; brother Burl Prater of Vandalia, Illinois; sisters Jean Coal of Vandalia, Goldie Gustafson of Keensburg, Illinois; and several grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters Melody Aldritz and Mary Ann Nabb.
Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. and the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22 at New Life Apostolic Church in Carmi. Burial is in Melrose Cemetery in Carmi.
