Shirley Faye Puckett, 76, of Carmi, Illinois, died Monday, April 13, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was born January 12, 1944 in Shawneetown, Illinois, and married James H. Puckett in 1978. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2008.
Shirley was a certified nurse assistant, and attended the New Beginnings Church in Carmi. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, flowers, horses and cooking.
Survivors include sons Raymond (Angela) Puckett of New Haven, Illinois, Michael Puckett and Bethany Shepard of Norris City, Illinois, Steve (Sherri) Duckworth of Carmi, James “Jimmy” (Sheila) Puckett of Wyoming; daughters Katrina Thomas of Carmi, and Judy Puckett of Ohio; sister Carlene of Florida; grandchildren Talsa, Austin, Zeke, Jessica, Kyle, Ashley, Matt, Brittany, Brandi, Brandon; great grandchildren Jayelah, Kannen, Rhian, Luke, Aiden, Kash, Leeroy, Liam, Aliana and Gunner.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Anita Puckett; and great grandson Holdin.
Due to the Covid-19 health crisis, and the limitations placed on social gatherings, Shirley’s remains were cremated and a memorial service will be at a later date.
Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
