Tex Moats, 76, of Fairfield passed away at 9:39PM on Friday May 1st at his home. He was a well-known horse trainer being inducted into the Illinois Harness Racing Hall of Fame in 2005. Tex was born in Mt Erie on August 8th, 1943 to Rex and Iva (Burkett) Moats.
Tex is survived by daughters- Sheila Williams, Beth Moats, and Ivy (Aaron) McCune all of Fairfield; grandchildren- Zach (Sarah) Reever of Portland OR, Morgan Williams, Lucas Reever, Tyler McCune, Remi McCune, and River McCune all of Fairfield; great grandson- Jaxden Williams.
Tex was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers- Glennis Moats and Ross Moats.
A private funeral service will be held at the Victory Outreach Christian Center in Fairfield with burial in Graceland Cemetery in Albion.
Tex always said he “just wanted to be remembered as that dang ole coon hunter”
