Donald Keith Gibbs – Wayne City

67-year-old Donald Keith Gibbs of Wayne City, died at 4 a.m. Saturday, May 30 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born October 17, 1952 in Hamilton County, the son of Merril Lee and Zella Mae (Smith) Gibbs.

Donald worked as an engineering tech employed by the Illinois State Highway Department for 12 years, then the Hamilton County Highway Department for 29 years. He loved to look for Indian rocks, listen to the Cardinals baseball games and playing music with his friends.

Survivors include his wife: Rebecca Davolt of Wayne City; five children: Conan (Danielle) Gibbs of McLeansboro, J.K. Davolt of Carbondale, IL, Donald Gibbs-Davolt of Carbondale, Merrilee (Neil) Berkel of O’Fallon, IL, and Kristin (Laythan) Musgrave of Wayne City; a sister: Brenda (John) McPeak of McLeansboro; a brother: Gary Gibbs of Opdyke; seven grandchildren: Ethan, Anna and Abigail Gibbs; Adaline Berkel; Gracie, Hallie and George Owen Musgrave; several nieces and nephews also survive. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Catheline Gibbs.

There will be a Private Family Funeral Service held for Donald by Harre Funeral Home of McLeansboro, with Reverend Gary Davenport officiating the service. The Harre Funeral Home of McLeansboro is in charge of all the arrangements.
