93-year-old Darrell Sawyer of Albion, passed from this life to the next on July 10 at Rest Haven Manor in Albion.
He was born on February 1, 1927 to Rolla and Ruth (Bailey) Sawyer in Wayne County, IL. He married Edith Garris on February 13, 1945 in Ellery, IL.
Darrell was a veteran of World War II and worked in construction as a Supervisor and enjoyed farming. He was a lifelong member of the Samaria Baptist Church where he served as deacon and taught Sunday School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing
He is survived by one daughter, Debbie (Donnie) Perkins; two sons; Steve ( Norma) Sawyer, Randy (Marcy) Sawyer; 10 grandchildren: Lacey (Scott) Meserole, Justin (April) Perkins, Greg (Emily) Perkins, Neely Sawyer, Caleb (Kirsten) Sawyer, Tina Sawyer Goen, Brandi (John) Julian, Stephen (Katie) Sawyer, Whitney McKim, DiElle (Billy) Rogers; 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Alan (NormaLea) Sawyer.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and grandson Dallas Reid.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at 10 a.m at Samaria Baptist Church Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Samaria Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the service.
