Joe Felix – formerly of Fairfield

95-year-old Joe Felix, formerly of Fairfield, passed away on August 3rd in Fort Myers, FL. He was born in Wayne County on April 7, 1925 to Joseph Arthur Sr. and Edna Lucy Hooper Felix. He was an accountant and a WWII veteran who served in the Army Air Corps and flew 29 missions as a B-29 navigator. Joe was extremely proud of his service, his family and his travel. He loved seeing the world and visited every continent except Antarctica and every U.S. state except Alaska. He was wonderfully clever, delightfully ornery, incredibly generous and he enjoyed golf and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Joe will be lovingly remembered by his daughters: Janalee Garwood and Cathalyn Boerio, both of Fort Myers, FL; his grandchildren: Jennifer Hamman, Matthew Boerio (Lauren Bentley) and Morgan Boerio (Dave Gellert); his great-granddaughter, Grace Hamman; his sister, Anita Dickey of Fairfield; his five stepchildren: H.G. French (Ginny), Pat French Christensen (Mark), Beth French (Dave), Paul French (Linda) and Charley French (Octavia); and several nieces and nephews. 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sybil Zimmerman Felix; his second wife, Pauline French Felix; his sisters: Lillian Hodges, Mary Nancy Anniss and Carolyn Bice; and his brothers: Kenneth Felix and Karl Felix.

Joe will be buried in Maple Hill Cemetery with no formal services at this time. A Celebration of Life with full military rites will be held in the spring. Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements.
