Glen Weaver – Wayne City

86-year-old Glen Weaver of Wayne City, passed away at 6:31 PM, Monday, August 17 one month before his 87th birthday.  He was born on September 17, 1933 in Johnsonville to David Herbert and Chloe Ester (Johnson) Weaver and graduated from Wayne City High School in 1951.  Glen grew up working in his father’s orchard near Johnsonville and married Otha Lee Dickey in 1952.  In 1953 they moved to Champaign, IL to work on a farm, returning to Wayne City in 1955 to work at the feed mill. Glen was offered a partnership with George Kissner in his implement dealership in 1959 and it became Kissner and Weaver until closing in 1985.  He then worked for Chip Moore in Albion selling equipment until retiring in 1995.  Glen was also an avid golfer and had a part time business sowing grass seed, which he enjoyed very much.

Glen is survived by his wife Otha Lee Weaver of Wayne City, daughter Judy Dian (Ken) Harris of Wayne City, grandchildren Jay Ryan Weaver Simpson, Kurt Duane Weaver (Christy) Simpson, and JuLee Dian Weaver (Dillon) Curtner, great grandchildren- Jade (Jaden) Lewis, Avery McCulley, Abby Simpson, Alexis Simpson, and Lyla Curtner, a brother Everett Weaver of Mission, TX, and a sister Wilma Beadle of Danville, IL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son Robert Duane Weaver who passed away in 1970 at the age of 16, and brothers Howard Weaver of Sims, Loren Weaver of Normal, IL and Donald Weaver of Houston, TX.

In order to meet group size restrictions, private funeral services for Glen will be held at 1 PM, on Tuesday, August 25th at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel in Thomason Cemetery.  Anyone who would like to attend the committal service in Thomason Cemetery following the funeral is welcome to do so.  A public visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday at the Wayne City Baptist Church.  The family asks that everyone attending any of the services wear a mask and follow State of Illinois and CDC guidelines of social distancing per Covid-19 guidelines.  In lieu of flowers memorials in his honor may be made to Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel or Thomason Cemetery.  Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
