43-year-old Heather Renee Betts a resident of Wayne City, died at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO on Saturday, August 29. Heather was born October 17, 1976 in Xenia, OH to Wanda K. Betts, who survives and Michael Leroy Betts, who preceded her in death. She worked as a licensed L.P.N. Nurse at various locations. She loved nature, especially watching butterflies or dragon flies, and going for a hike or a walk. She loved to sew, and enjoyed rock hunting with her son Niklas. She would love to find hidden treasures at yard sales and to go “pumpkin snatching” after dark.
Heather is survived by her mother Wanda Betts of Wayne City, her son Niklas Skees of Wayne City, 3 sisters: Tammy (Wayne) Hilderbrand of Wrights; Vickie (Jay) Slater of Raymond, MS and Tracey Rodgers (Brian Trotter) of Sims. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father Michael Leroy Betts, a brother Shaun Betts, and her grandparents. Funeral Services for Heather Renee Betts will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, September 5 at the Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL with Pastor Troy Shook officiating.
Visitation will also be held on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service at 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to help cover funeral expenses and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home.
