Dorothy Mae “Tootsie” Cowling, 93, of Grayville, Illinois, died Monday, October 12, 2020, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. She was born May 27, 1927, in Union County, Kentucky, the daughter of E.C. “Bud” Cavins and Maude (French) Cavins. She was married to Donald Ray “Spud” Cowling, and he preceded her in death.
Tootsie was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Grayville. She enjoyed dancing, rummage sales and participating in activities at the Grayville Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include son Raymond (Dianna) Cowling of Grayville; son-in-law Donovan Baldwin of Grayville; grandchildren Doug (Julie) Cowling, Dawn (Davis) Messman, Tiffanie (Scott) Hout; great grandchildren Camille Cowling, Kaden Cowling, Riley Messman, Rayce Messman, Kaylea Hout, Pixi Hout.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Beverly Baldwin; great grandchildren Whitlee Hout and Will Hout; brothers Bussie Cavins, Shep Cavins, J.C. Cavins, Shine Cavins, Junie Cavins; sisters Mag Hoy, Lib Lewis.
Visitation and funeral are Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Visitation is 10 am and funeral is at 11 am. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.
Memorials may be made to the Grayville Senior Citizens Center and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville.
