Phillip A. “Bimbo” Newman – Carmi

70-year-old Phillip A. “Bimbo” Newman of Carmi, died Monday morning, October 12 at home. He was born September 19, 1950 the son of Rada Isabell (Nelson) Newman.

He was married to Mary Smith.

He retired from the City of Carmi and had also worked in the oilfield. He loved camping and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Phillip Newman, Jr. and Corey (Tiffanie) Smith; daughters, Sarah Leland, Amy Sandusky and Hannah (Shaina Ward) Newman; several grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Charlie (Minnie) Newman, Ronald Newman, and Frank Newman; sisters, Gertrude Hart, Ann Newman, Barb Fletcher, Mary Jane Doneghue and Terri Buchanan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob, Carroll, Tom, Roger, Donnie, Scott and David and sister, Charlotte Stephens.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 16 at North Maple Ridge Cemetery. Family and friends are ask to go directly to the cemetery. The Stendeback Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Donations are asked to be made to the funeral home to help defray costs.
