Ronald “Ron” L. Hallam – Albion

Ronald “Ron” L. Hallam, age 74 of Albion, IL passed unexpectedly from this life to the next on October 14, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Ron was born on July 19, 1946 in Streator, IL to James and Clara (Bliss) Hallam.

On January 30, 1976 he married Melody Chapin in West Salem, IL and they enjoyed almost 45 years together.

He was a veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart Medal recipient.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #8222 and a member of the American Legion Post #590.  Ron was an employee of Champion Labs as s set up man for several years.  In recent years, he enjoyed wintering in Florida and camping with his children and grandchildren, who he absolutely loved and adored.  His family was his life!

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Hallam, and one great-grandson, Todd Leslie Marks.

He is survived by the love of his life, Melody Hallam, his three daughters, Janet (Les) Slunaker, Misty (Kris) Robinson and Ronika (Cory) Gill; eight grandchildren: Kaytlyn (Randall) Marks, Kassidy Slunaker, Kase Robinson, Carsyn Robinson, Ian Gill, Kiki Robinson, Emma Gill, and Abby Gill and one great-grandson, Troy Marks.  He is also survived by one brother, Mahlon (Vonny) Hallam, two sisters-in-law, Candace (Wayne) Thacker and Judy (Dale) Fleck and one brother-in-law, Leon (Terri) Compton and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Ron’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a private family service will take place at Graceland Cemetery with military rites.
