Scheryl D. Hoard – Flora

Scheryl D. Hoard, age 73, of Flora, Illinois, and formerly of Xenia, passed away Friday afternoon, October 16, 2020, at Flora Gardens Care Center.

Sherry was born June 17, 1947, in Olney, the daughter of the late Marcus and Mildred (Brummit) Burt.  She was united in marriage to Kent Hoard on October 20, 1979, and he preceded her in death on March 31, 2016.

A 1965 graduate of Flora High School after being crowned Clay County Fair Queen in 1964, and later attending Lockyear Business College in 1967, Sherry went on to a dedicated and successful career as a sales representative for Sparton Manufacturing.  She was an adoring mom and grandma, a frequent spectator at all kinds of sporting events, and enjoyed camping and collecting all things flamingo.  Sherry and Kent were members of Xenia United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son: Robby (Vanessa) Breeze of Evansville, Indiana; 2 daughters: Erica (John) Walden and Ariane (Mike) Souder, both of Flora; 11 grandchildren: Amanda Breeze, and Whitney, Colton & Rylie Westerfield, and Clayton, Emma, and Carder Walden, and Andrew, Abigail, Kinley, & Keeley Souder; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother: Gary (Jan) Burt of San Diego, California; and many cousins and extended family members.

A funeral ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery, near Xenia.  Visitation will be from 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a memory or condolence, visit: www.frankandbright.com
